Las invitaciones enviadas para la cena de las máximas autoridades que participen en la cumbre del Grupo de los Veinte (G20), el próximo 9 de septiembre, en la residencia oficial de la presidenta en Nueva Delhi, desataron polémica, ya que la firma no refiere a la “presidenta de India”, sino a la “presidenta de Bharat”.
El jefe de Gobierno del estado de Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, publicó este martes una foto de la invitación en su cuenta de la red social X (antes conocida como Twitter). Además, calificó este acontecimiento como “un golpe más contra la mentalidad de esclavitud”.
A su vez, Jairam Ramesh, secretario general del Congreso Nacional Indio, uno de los partidos opositores, acusó al primer ministro, Narendra Modi, de seguir “distorsionando la historia y dividiendo la India”.
Entre tanto, el periódico indio Economic Times reportó este martes que el Gobierno de Modi podría presentar una resolución sobre el cambio del nombre oficial del país durante la sesión especial del Parlamento, programada del 18 al 22 de septiembre.
En la actualidad, la carta magna admite las dos denominaciones, por lo que en idiomas como el castellano o el inglés se la menciona como India, pero en hindi se usa el término Bharat.
En caso de que se produzca el cambio de nombre del país, una cuestión a resolver es qué ocurrirá con los sitios de Internet que usan el dominio .IN, lo que hace referencia a una página de origen indio. En especial, con aquellos que tienen un uso oficial como gov.in, referido al gobierno, o mil.in utilizado por las Fuerzas Armadas.
El cambio de nombre no implica un problema operacional de los sitios de Internet con dominio .IN, ya que seguirán estando en la web y su funcionamiento será el mismo. Por lo tanto, se trata más de una cuestión de identidad que de una complicación operativa.
