Cohen and Seigel never muscled out Dragna from the rackets. Dragna was a Cosa Nostra commission member and in no way could two Jews muscle him out of his own city. It’s true Dragna resented their presence in L.A, but because of Seigel’s close ties to Lucky Luciano they were tolerated and worked together. After Seigel was killed by the east coast families, Cohen refused to work with Dragna. Dragna then put a hit out on Cohen, including blowing up his house, but failed to kill him. Cohen was eventually arrested and thrown in jail for tax evasion and was forced to give up control of the rackets to the Los Angeles family.
