Se lo denominó “Flat Iron Building” y está situado en la confluencia de la calle 23 y la Quinta Avenida de la ciudad de Nueva York.
Con 22 pisos, este edificio de planta triangular (o proa de barco y 285 pies) alcanza los 86 metros por 86 cm de alto, y su extremo redondeado mide solo 2 metros de ancho.
Es uno de los rascacielos más antiguos de la ciudad y ha sido designado Monumento Histórico Nacional y Monumento Histórico de la Ciudad de Nueva York.
Incluso hoy en día, caminar junto a él puede causar un asombro no muy diferente del que habrían sentido los transeúntes a principios del siglo pasado.
