El “campo de escombros” encontrado durante las labores de búsqueda y rescate en el océano Atlántico pertenecen al sumergible Titán de la empresa OceanGate, el cual exploraba los restos del Titanic, confirmó la Guardia Costera de los Estados Unidos.
De acuerdo con las autoridades, el sumergible pudo haber sufrido una “implosión catastrófica” al momento de sumergirse a grandes profundidades como son los 3,800 metros en los que se encuentra el Titanic, provocando la muerte de los cinco tripulantes.
Fue durante la mañana de este jueves, a través de su cuenta de Twitter, que la Guardia Costera de Estados Unidos informó que durante la búsqueda del sumergible se encontró a lo que denominó un “campo de escombros” cerca de la zona donde están los restos del legendario trasatlántico Titanic.
El descubrimiento de estos restos fue gracias a la utilización de un robot dirigido por control remoto (ROV), de Horizon Artic, que se sumergió a grandes profundidades. para determinar si corresponden o no al sumergible desaparecido.
