I appreciate her strength and all but I dont think people generally mean to be mean. I get her fustrations but she needs to be open as well. Esp when it comes to beng asked for ID or stuff like that. You cant get pissed off like that. I am a deaf person and if I got mad at everybody al the time. We need to help each other out when it comes to our disabilities and educating people. I am not saying I dont get insulted because aI do..and those situations get handled accordingly. I just find that a large part of disabled community have turned into pissed off people and want to be treated like everybody else. Well just know , you asked to be treated as an equal with no special treatment.This is the underground part of disability rights that also needs to be talked about. When people watch me sign or stare at my blind eye that does it own dance….I am not going to get mad. Hell I stare at people and I dont mean to but aI do. If you want to be seen as a person who is not defined as your disability…there are corners you are gong to have to cut and patience you need to have for people who are not disabled. It works both ways. 🙂

This was a totally ignorant and thoughtless comment. She’s a 22-year-old woman with the exact same rights and privileges as you or me or anyone over the age of 21. Stop being judgmental. You have more to change about yourself than she does if you have that kind of attitude about what other people do with their bodies. It’s so sad cause it really is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, she’s a grown woman and it makes sense that she should be treated as an adult because she is!! But on the other hand, a grown man being physically attracted to her is just really uncomfortable because she looks SO much like a child. Even though she obviously isn’t a child and doesn’t act like one, it’s hard to get around the fact that we have a word for adults that are attracted to childlike features and it’s a word that most men would never want to be associated with. I’m rooting for a way for her to find love though!
