La “Justicia” Argentina sumó esta semana una nueva condena a prisión perpetua para Miguel Osvaldo Etchecolatz. Junto a Etchecolatz, quien ya purga otras ocho sentencias a perpetuidad por los bien o mal llamados crímenes de lesa humanidad, el Tribunal Oral Federal 1 de La Plata sentenció a la misma pena al expolicía Julio César Garachico, bajo la carátula de tres homicidios y privación ilegítima de libertad y aplicación de tormentos contra siete víctimas, entre ellas el exmilitante peronista y albañil Jorge Julio López.
López se presentó como testigo durante uno de los juicios por delitos de lesa humanidad contra Etchecolatz. Desapareció un día antes de que el exjefe de la Policía (quien fue cargado con esa desaparición) fuera condenado, en 2006. Tenía 77 años.
En 2017, Etchecolatz recibió el beneficio de prisión domiciliaria, que le fue revocado un año más tarde tras el reclamo de organizaciones de derechos humanos junto a agresiones y escraches varios de estos grupos.
A sus 93 años, Etchecolatz cumple sus ocho condenas en la cárcel de la localidad de Ezeiza, en las afueras de Buenos Aires, soportando graves probleas de salud.
