Las ventas de Coca-Cola en Dinamarca han disminuido a raíz de un aparente boicot por parte de los consumidores en medio de las amenazas de Estados Unidos de anexar Groenlandia, territorio ártico administrado por el país europeo.
“Hay un nivel de boicot de los consumidores en torno a las marcas estadounidenses… y es el único mercado en el que lo estamos viendo en gran medida”, dijo este martes Jacob Aarup-Andersen, consejero delegado de Carlsberg, cervecera danesa que embotella Coca-Cola en Dinamarca.
El descontento de los daneses con EE.UU. parece estar alimentado además por los comentarios del vicepresidente J.D. Vance, quien acusó a Copenhague de no ser un “buen aliado”, a pesar de que las fuerzas danesas han luchado junto a las tropas estadounidenses en Afganistán y otros lugares. “Ahora se sienten irrespetados. Es comprensible por qué los llamamientos al boicot [de productos estadounidenses] son tan populares”, dijo un funcionario danés al diario.
Como resultado de este fenómeno, marcas de refrescos locales, como Jolly Cola, le están ganando terreno a sus rivales estadounidenses y sus ventan han aumentado. Al respecto, Aarup-Andersen señala que, si bien los volúmenes de la emblemática gaseosa están “ligeramente bajos” en Dinamarca, el impacto en las ventas totales “no es dramático”.
