¿Eclesiastés copió a Gilgamesh?

Hace casi un siglo, el erudito alemán Hubert Grimme notó algunas similitudes sorprendentes entre el Libro bíblico de Eclesiastés y la Epopeya mesopotámica de Gilgamesh. Esto fue realmente extraño. Eclesiastés, según la mayoría de los eruditos, data del año 180 antes de  Cristo y fue escrito por un sofisticado intelectual jerosolimitano. A primera vista, el libro es una colección bastante notable de literatura sapiencial israelita: aforística, escéptica e incluso hedonista.

Eclesiastés supuestamente fue uno de los Ketuvim de la Biblia hebrea y parte de la literatura sapiencial del Antiguo Testamento cristiano.

Gilgamesh fue un héroe en la antigua mitología mesopotámica y el protagonista de la Epopeya de Gilgamesh, un poema épico escrito en acadio a finales del segundo milenio antes de Cristo.

La epopeya de Gilgamesh, por otro lado, es una obra maestra de la narrativa mesopotámica, cuyos fragmentos han sobrevivido en una versión sumeria de tan a comienzos del segundo milenio antes de Cristo, así como en ediciones posteriores acadias y babilónicas e incluso versiones hititas y hurritas. Cualquier similitud entre Eclesiastés y la epopeya de Gilgamesh sería sorprendente.

¡Pero allí estaban! Poco después de que se publicara la versión babilónica antigua de la epopeya de Gilgamesh, Grimme notó la gran semejanza entre el consejo dado por Shiduri, el tabernero, a Gilgamesh y el consejo dirigido al lector por Qohelet, literalmente “el Predicador”, que pretende ser el autor de Eclesiastés.

    Existen muchas similitudes entre los relatos expuestos en la Biblia, (que es de hecho una suma de libros,)y relatos de otras civilizaciones como por ejemplo el diluvio. Cuando se estudia en el Seminario Teológico la materia Introducción al Antiguo Testamento, todo esto se estudia, se debate, se comprende y nos permite hablar con conocimientos Dios. Naturalmente para comprender bien la escritura debe hacerse en el idioma en que fue escrito o sea en hebreo bíblico. Como ustedes saben o tal vez no, los libros fueron escritos por hombres que pudieron ser influenciados por hechos o relatos conocidos pero inspirados por el Señor. Cuando se lee algún libro de la Biblia hay que hacerlo con dos o tres versiones, el diccionario bíblico actualizado y un diccionario histórico para comprender el contexto, si se hace en alguna traducción que debe ser extraída de la versión de la setenta que es fundamental. Si lo hace en hebreo, siempre con el diccionario bíblico y con una gramática hebrea porque como ustedes saben, o no, cada letra hebrea tiene varias acepciones, imaginen cuando forma una palabra y luego frases aparte de los acentos que fueron creados luego al estilo de nuestras vocales pero que hay que saber ubicar en el contexto general. Cuando comiencen la lectura pueden hacerlo por Salmos y Proverbios porque así pueden ubicarse mejor para comprender lo que leerán más tarde. No comiencen por Génesis y mucho menos por Eclesiastes porque la simbología es extrema y si desconocen la lengua original va a ser duro de comprender. Sin embargo les insto a realizar una lectura diaria. Pequeña pero diaria porque ayuda mucho en muchos aspectos. Científicamente comprobado!

    I too noticed the two creation stories as well as a Former Christian when I did the same — decide to read the Bible straight from the beginning. It’s such a grieving error but it happens so early on that I decided to overlook it and continued my mission of reading beginning to end only to come across ridiculous things again and again.

    I really like Ecclesiastes because it tells that everything without God is meaningless but with God it creates meaning. Which tells me to stop doing things that looks good on the world but do things that God want you to do
