De aprobarse la reforma legislativa, se aplicaría tanto a los ciudadanos indonesios como a los extranjeros.
“Estamos orgullosos de tener un Código Penal acorde con los valores de Indonesia”, manifestó el viceministro de Justicia del país, Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej.
El nuevo código también prohibirá a las parejas vivir juntas antes del matrimonio, así como insultar al presidente o a las instituciones estatales y expresar opiniones contrarias a la ideología estatal de Indonesia.
La penalización del aborto, con excepción de las víctimas de violación, y el encarcelamiento por “magia negra” también están incluidos en el nuevo código.
Por su parte, grupos empresariales locales expresaron su preocupación por el daño que la nueva normativa podría tener en la imagen del país como destino de vacaciones e inversión.
“Para el sector empresarial, la implementación de esta ley consuetudinaria creará inseguridad jurídica y hará que los inversores reconsideren invertir en Indonesia”, afirmó Shinta Widjaja Sukamdani, vicepresidente de la Asociación de Empleadores de Indonesia.
