El futuro presidente Jimmy Carter presenta un informe al Comité Nacional de Investigaciones sobre Fenómenos Aéreos (NICAP) el 18 de septiembre de 1973, afirmando que había visto un Objeto Volador No Identificado (OVNI) en octubre de 1969.
Durante la campaña presidencial de 1976, el retador demócrata Carter habló sobre su creencia de que había visto un ovni. Describió su espera afuera de un dificio aguardando que comenzara una reunión del Club de Leones en Leary, Georgia, alrededor de las 7:30 p.m., cuando vio lo que llamó “la cosa más maldita que he visto” en el cielo. Carter, así como otras 10 a 12 personas que presenciaron el mismo evento, describieron el objeto como “muy brillante con colores cambiantes y del tamaño de la luna”.
Carter informó que “el objeto flotaba a unos 30 grados sobre el horizonte y se movía hacia la tierra y se alejaba antes de desaparecer en la distancia”. Más tarde le dijo a un periodista que, después de la experiencia, juró no volver a ridiculizar a nadie que afirmara haber visto un ovni.

I know people laugh at me when I tell the story but I don’t care
I was visiting my old man in Ontario when I have to stop in the middle of the road . A big spaceship was there and it didn’t move for good five minutes, then it took off

I have had my share of UFO sightings in the seventies in Rarotonga Cook Islands and a couple of sightings here in Auckland New Zealand It doesn’t matter what other people think, I know what I witnessed.

In 1977 I was home on leave from the Navy. A girl I knew asked me if I
wanted to go to a party at a lake cabin on big Kandiyohi lake, which is
in Minnesota, It was at night and fairly dark out. I don’t think it
was 10 minutes and we saw a very bright glowing white round light shoot
out of the sky (no trailing edge) and stop in a second about 500 feet
above the water. A couple seconds later another bright glowing white
round light (same size and the color of what a white halogen light looks
like) stopped right along side the first light. Both lights stayed
there for about 5 seconds and then both of them took off together across
the lake headed west and disappeared within a couple seconds. I’ve
never seen anything fly that fast and disappear within seconds. There
has to be much more advanced life out there, but for some reason our
government tries to keep it a secret and not talk After seeing what we saw,
we both ran in the cabin and told everyone as they laughed at us!
