El presidente de la Cámara de Representantes reafirmó el apoyo “inquebrantable” del Congreso estadounidense al país judío.

Mike Johnson, el nuevo presidente de la Cámara de Representantes de EE.UU., reafirmó el compromiso de Washington de apoyar a Israel durante la Cumbre de la Coalición Judía Republicana celebrada en Las Vegas el sábado.

“Como cristianos, creemos que la Biblia enseña muy claramente que debemos apoyar a Israel”, dijo.

El republicano Mike Johnson, nuevo líder de la Cámara de Representantes de EE.UU.

Señaló que no es una coincidencia que su primera pieza legislativa fuera promover una resolución pro-Israel. “Quiero que todo el mundo conozca nuestra postura”, declaró.

En su discurso, también se dirigió a la ONU: “El fuego solo cesará cuando Hamás cese ser una amenaza para Israel”. La declaración se produjo después de que la Asamblea General de la ONU aprobara por abrumadora mayoría una resolución exigiendo un alto el fuego inmediato. EE.UU. votó en contra de la resolución. 

Johnson calificó a Israel como el principal aliado de Estados Unidos en Oriente Medio y uno de sus amigos más importantes. Citó y expresó su pleno acuerdo con las palabras del primer ministro del país hebreo, Benjamín Netanyahu, de que se trata de una batalla “del bien contra el mal y de la luz contra la oscuridad”.

También afirmó que había asegurado personalmente a Netanyahu el apoyo “inquebrantable” del Congreso a Israel hasta el final del conflicto.

 

“No reconocerás más Dios que a mí. . . . Estás destruido, Israel. . . . El pueblo de Samaria debe cargar con su culpa, porque se han rebelado contra su Dios. Caerán a espada; sus pequeños serán arrojados al suelo, sus mujeres embarazadas desgarradas.” (Oseas 13:4, 9, 16)
