Twenty years ago I worked as a summer intern at the Senate and had the privilege of giving tours of the capitol building. I watched the events unfold Jan. 6th as they were happening, and it made me feel sick. Even now, seeing the same halls I know so well filled with such violence makes me feel sick. But seeing the attempts to gaslight the entire country about something we saw happening live just a few years ago, for which there’s more and more video evidence of just how depraved this attack was, that makes me angry. The lie is so outrageous, to tell me what I sat here watching for hours never happened, it makes me question either the sanity or patriotism of those spreading it.
Donald Trump has hurt the people that blindly follow him as much as he’s hurt the rest of us. They believe his lies and feel such outrage about it all. It’s heartbreaking. I truly believe that the Democrats will vote in droves for Biden, and that we will surprise Trump and the Republicans with our numbers. Because most of us don’t take up arms and scream from the rooftops, or even post comments. We just vote our conscience, uncounted beforehand.
Mitch McConnell on that day would rather blame Trump than take any personal responsibility. He said what he said on that day only to save his own hide and preserve his majority, but McConnell is practically, and morally, responsible as well. As are so many other Republicans who at first experienced and denounced the violence but then have turned right back around to support MAGA up to the present day.
It’s disgusting after all of this that happened on that day guns were drawn inside the capitol and doors were barricaded and Republicans have the gall to say it was a peaceful tour and still support Donald Trump.
Patriotism doesn’t mean trying to destroy the country to try and get your way and your way only. That’s like burning down the house over a marital dispute. Instead, patriotism means working together despite conflicting opinions to find solutions that everyone can eventually meet in the middle on. Peace is more powerful than opinions.

States decide if Independent candidates have enough valid signatures to even appear on ballots, so it stands to reason, the states have rights to decide how to lead their own elections. Each state is a “Republic” to itself. Trump even himself considered this when trying to move through fake electors the state of Michigan. I hope this fact is brought up in the Briefs filed by the groups to SCOTUS
In federal criminal court, when the testimony by a witness is given is in regards to what the witness heard the defendant say and/or do, it is NOT considered hearsay because the defendant is ALWAYS provided the opportunity to testify and refute what the witness claimed the defendant said and the actions taken by the defendant. As long as the witness on the stand is the one who witnessed the defendant do it. It can’t be a witness saying someone else told them the defendant did X, y, z
As a citizen I would like to know why the Supreme court is allowed to run in such secrecy. The cases they take should be voted on by the people, and the justices should no longer be lifelong and should have term limits.
No matter how the public votes or no matter how a court rules, if Trump loses, he says the vote or the court is rigged. The very sad part about that is that his followers simply do not see through this.
We as Americans should be horrified that Trump would allow harm to the closest people to him and have no concern over what was taken place outside. The fact that he has stated that people that support him should be at every polling place and not let anyone in if they see them carrying bags or boxes. WTF are we allowing here for this election.
Just imagine that some people prefer a failed business man, a draft dodging coward, a tv reality figure, a 4 times indicted 91 charged felon.. instead of a man with more than 50y as a civil servant, commended for his diplomacy skills and work across the aisle, a man who shows decency, humility, care and respect!
If the insurrection had never enter the capital by force, you maybe could call it a riot or a protest, but they DID enter by force! This is clearly insurrection.
I always thought that if a person in power were to threaten our democracy that swift legal action would be taken against that person and be removed from office and never be allowed to run for office again. Three years later and it just never seems to stop!
Trump being allowed to roam around on bail has got to be the worst thing in American history !!! This is a disgrace to our country and beyond comprehension to society !!! No other person could go around threatening people while out on bail. It’s not even laughable anymore it’s serious.
