Roger, el canguro musculoso, que aplastó un recipiente de metal como si fuera un vaso de papel, murió a la edad de 12 años.

El animal, que medía 6 pies 7 pulgadas y pesaba 89 kilos, se hizo famoso en 2015 cuando una foto de él aplastando el cubo se volvió viral.

El personal del Santuario de Canguros en Alice Springs, Australia, donde Roger fue atendido, dijo que era un “día muy triste”.

“Hemos perdido a un niño hermoso, Roger”, dijo el gerente del santuario Chris Barnes.

El Sr. Barnes encontró a Roger huérfano en 2006 después de que la madre del canguro hubiera sido atropellada por un automóvil que pasaba.

Barnes también mencionó  que construyó el santuario para albergar a Roger y “un par de sus esposas, Ella y Abigail”.

Añadió: “Roger fue nuestro macho alfa durante muchos años, y creció hasta convertirse en un canguro que las personas de todo el mundo han llegado a amar tanto como nosotros lo amamos a él.

“Él siempre estará aquí, lo hemos puesto a descansar aquí, para que pueda estar con su familia”. El centro agradeció a la gente por sus “hermosos mensajes sobre Roger”.
