Argentina and Venezuela made a mistake being independent. Argentina and Venezuela now days would be working with euros if they were kept in the Spanish side.
Imagine how different South and Central America would be if Gran Colombia had survived – would a bigger nation state, wealthier from a presumed lack of drug gangs, coups and international conflict, have been able to stand up to US/CIA interference in the 20th century? A potential global power in the south showing an alternative way perhaps.

Great piece. I am always hunger for more South American history.
It is an amazing story. I think a South American Union wouldn’t have worked because of the so many very distant identities.
Buena hipotesis.
No creo.
Argentina and Venezuela made a mistake being independent. Argentina and Venezuela now days would be working with euros if they were kept in the Spanish side.
Like a Colony? Really?
weird way of thinking
u definitely sound like a logic owl!! ☺️ You are a thinking guru
GRANDE GRANDE NUESTRO GENERAL SAN MARTIN !!
¿Y Alverso?
Bolivar is a really interesting figure. low on controversy relative to the scale of his greed, ambitions and achievements.
