I don’t know if Nomad land will win best picture, because it is very hard to follow and Complex. I think it is so difficult for the average person to understand and relate to the plot. The First half of the film I really enjoyed watching and there’s some really great shots that look very good. The last half of the film just got kind of slow, but the way it was filmed and how it looked was still so original. There isn’t enough of a story in this film for me to feel engaged, I think a best picture nominee needs a good story.

Catherine Deneuve in The Truth was outstanding. Ridiculous if she’s not nominated.
Catherine Deneuve, quelle carrière, quelle actrice! Le nombre de films et les noms des réalisateurs avec lesquels elle a tourné c’est absolument fou. Elle a su jouer avec vérité et retenue à la fois. On sent dans ses films comme une certaine pudeur, une retenue, mais qui la rendent émouvante, c’est sa personnalité, et cela ne l’empêche pas d’être très juste et vraie dans son jeu. Sa sœur Françoise j’en suis sûre, la regarde d’où elle est. En étant très fière de sa sœur. Disparue tragiquement dans un accident d’auto à 25 ans, Françoise Dorléac avait réellement un talent fou qui lui promettait une carrière grandiose, qu’elle n’a pas eu le temps d’avoir. Elle avait peut-être plus de “pep’s”, plus d’énergie, de tripes que Catherine, quelque chose en plus, mais au fond, c’est comme pour toutes les personnes : elles sont différentes et il y a toujours quelqu’un qui a plus ceci ou plus cela. Ca n’est pas au détriment de l’autre et ne doit pas l’être. Elles ont chacune leur talent et c’est très bien comme ça. C’est Catherine en attendant qui est restée et a eu cette carrière. (évidemment, c’est par un hasard malheureux du fait de la disparition de Françoise…) Il y a je crois l’idée de continuer pour deux… Cette carrière qu’a Catherine, c’est celle qu’aurait eu Françoise. Mais au fond, Catherine a réussi, et elle a réussi seule, par et pour elle-même. Françoise et Catherine sont soeurs dans la vie mais deux actrices différentes qui ne doivent pas dépendre l’une de l’autre, leurs talents sont indépendants et propres à chacune. Catherine a trouvé la force de continuer, seule, et a réussi seule. Et ça… C’est merveilleux. Merci Catherine. Et bravo.

What about the Indian entry into the Oscars? It got everyone’s attention in the Toronto Film Festival. The XYZ Films has taken it’s N. American Distribution rights as well.
I want you guys to do predictions on actors. As much as I like Chadwick Boseman, I really want to see Riz Ahmed win best actor. Sound of Metal was freaking amazing. Paul Raci was also so memorable in that movie. Sydney Flanigan from Never Rarely Sometimes Always also deserves some recognition.
