Robin Williams se quitó la vida en el año 2014. Ahora, la viuda del genial comediante, Susan Schneider Williams, se está abriendo sobre el dolor que experimentó su esposo antes de su muerte.

Schneider Williams describió el estado de deterioro de su esposo.

“Robin y yo sabíamos que estaban sucediendo muchas más cosas. Robin tenía razón cuando me dijo: ‘Solo quiero reiniciar mi cerebro'”, dijo Schneider Williams. “En ese momento le prometí que llegaríamos al fondo de esto”.

Schneider Williams compartió la historia de su esposo en el documental Robin’s Wish. Esta pieza detalla la batalla de Williams con la demencia con cuerpos de Lewy. El filme fue lanzado en plataformas de transmisión digital recientemente.

Según el Instituto Nacional sobre el Envejecimiento, la demencia con cuerpos de Lewy es la segunda forma más común de demencia, después de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. Este trastorno puede “provocar problemas de pensamiento, movimiento, comportamiento y estado de ánimo”.

“Me llamaron para que me sentara para revisar el informe del forense. Me sentaron y me dijeron que, esencialmente, Robin murió de demencia difusa con cuerpos de Lewy. Comenzaron a hablar sobre la neurodegeneración. No estaba en su sano juicio”. Schneider Williams continuó antes de afirmar que aprender que este trastorno tenía un nombre la ayudó a encontrar consuelo.

“Me sentí aliviada de que ese comportamiento errático tuviera un nombre. Robin y yo habíamos pasado por esta experiencia juntos, siendo realmente perseguidos por un monstruo invisible”, dijo. “Salí de allí con el nombre de la enfermedad, lo que Robin y yo estábamos buscando”.

    I have Lewy Body Dementia. I was diagnosed about three years ago but when my family and I go back we can see I’ve had it longer, perhaps another two years. My entire life has been turned upside down. I used to own my own home, work, drive and was the master of my own destiny. Now I’ve lost my home, I can’t work, they took my drivers license, credit cards and debit card. I live in a care facility because I can’t be trusted to remember to take my meds and insulin, feed myself, do my laundry or do housework. That’s the bad stuff. The good stuff is that now that I have those stresses gone from my life my condition has improved a lot! I wish Robin would have known that. It might have changed his actions. I mourn for him the way I mourn for my own dad. Lewy Body Dementia isn’t the end of your life, but it is a massive change to your lifestyle. Yes it is a death sentence but there are worse things than dying. I’m 58 and I probably won’t make it to 70 so each day is a gift. The hallucinations and sleep disorders are the worst part for me. No way to change it and the meds that are available really have bad side effects. So I wake up each day and do what I want within my circumstances. I have developed a much deeper relationship with my God and my family/friends. I wish I could have told Robin this but I pray when my journey is done that I finally get to meet him because he is my hero. Rest In Peace my tormented soul brother.

    I can’t imagine the fear & pain he was going thru but still he wanted to help people. When I heard on the news that he died I went (back ) to bed & had a good cry. The world could use a little Robin right now. But in a way I’m glad he isn’t around to see the fear & hate going on in the world today. It would of been to much for his gentle soul even if he was mentally healthy. Bangarang oh captain my captain. See you soon !!
