La secretaria de Seguridad Nacional de EE.UU., Kristi Noem, fue víctima de un robo el domingo mientras cenaba en un restaurante de Washington, donde le arrebataron su bolso con 3.000 dólares en efectivo en su interior.
Su portavoz confirmó al medio que el bolso también contenía el carné de conducir, pasaporte, placa del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional, maquillaje, cheques, medicamentos y las llaves de su apartamento.
El video de seguridad revisado por el Servicio Secreto mostró a un hombre blanco con una mascarilla quirúrgica arrebatando el bolso de Noem para luego huir del restaurante.
El Servicio Secreto puso en marcha una investigación para rastrear cualquier uso de los instrumentos financieros de la funcionaria. No está claro si se ha identificado al sospechoso y cuál era el nivel de protección de Noem durante la cena.
Noem, de 53 años, que anteriormente fue gobernadora de Dakota del Sur, está al frente del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional desde finales de enero y ha mantenido una importante presencia mediática en el cargo, incluso acompañando a los agentes en las redadas.
