Here’s a possibility. Maybe the driver was behind the wheel, lost control and hit the tree. Then maybe he couldn’t get his door opened, so he climbed in the back to try to exit that way, but that door also wouldn’t open. Then he sadly died from the fire. Fire department sees him in back and assumed there was no driver?
Si fuese del todo cierto que el autopilot fuese bueno y seguro, los aviones no tendrían necesidad de piloto, navegantes; despegarían y aterrizarían solos. Sin embargo para despegar y aterrizar, necesitan del PILOTO……HUMANO. En mi caso, ya le avise a Tesla (pobre, cuantos desastres hacen en tu nombre) que no me reserve ninguno.

1- you can’t set autopilot 5 miles above speed limit
2- autopilot would never take a turn in such high speed
3- current autopilot version doesn’t work on not marked street
Also AP disengages when you take off your seat belt. I think the law enforcers need to stop looking at Tesla being a self driving car and start finding clues to see if the driver crashed the car and ran from the crime scene.
My understanding is that all events that take place are recorded individually by the Tesla’s 4 cameras IF a USB recordable device has been installed properly. And I believe Tesla can review data from the car to determine what happened, too. Driving my Tesla for a year now causes this situation to fail the smell test IMO.
Can someone show me how to put the car on auto pilot when there’s no lane markings in a residential neighborhood? You can’t…and this car crashed a few yards down the road from where they live. So you are telling me they enabled autopilot in area where you can’t and all jumped into the back seats and passenger seats while the car accelerates to highway speed?
I think they forgot to look outside the car for ejected person. There is no way you can active the current autopilot version on not marked street and it will never take turns in such a high speed
FUD is very strong with this one, my wild guess is that someone was in the drivers seat…. maybe alcohol was involved… the black box should get to tesla soon I would like to think.
I just got a 2019 Model 3 about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been using autopilot for about 15 miles of a highway with one toll each way and I love it so far. I don’t have FSD, but I would like to have lane change in the future.

Lo que no tiene mucho sentido es que los Tesla sin autopilot y sin ningún tipo de ayuda tengan muchísimos menos accidentes que el resto de marcas. Esto de por sí indica que la información está sesgada. No puede ser que quienes compran Teslas son siempre los conductores más cuidadosos. Hay otros muchos factores como la vejez de los vehículos.
Tendríamos que poner los datos en contexto. Comparar los datos con vehículos similares no con todo el volumen estadístico.
Imagino que habrá ocasiones en las que el conductor interviene para corregir un fallo o una limitación del autopilot. Claro: como el humano interviene, el coche evita el accidente. Como no hay accidente, no entra en las estadísticas. Pero obviamente implica que el autopilot no es tan seguro, aunque no haya estadísticas. Lo que sí es seguro es que la combinación de un humano atento más el sistema autopilot. Pero sería un error deducir de este estudio que el autopilot es seguro. Es la combinación la que es segura.

Autopilot now allows me to be even more vigilant to be on the lookout for deer. Looking forward to the neural net to start looking for deer on the side of the roads.
Ran autopilot during my trial at the end of an asphalt road turning into a DIRT ROAD. AP kept the car on the right, negotiated curves, and came acoss 2 cars without a problem. I was VERY impressed!

Autopilot will disengage as soon as the driver’s seat belt is unfastened and the car will pull itself over and put the hazards on.

My autopilot works on side streets sometimes even when the lines are crappy and faded.
