La gigafábrica de Shanghái, la mayor planta de producción de Tesla en el mundo, registró un descenso en las entregas en julio, interrumpiendo así una breve recuperación, mientras el fabricante estadounidense de automóviles enfrenta una feroz competencia de rivales locales. Los analistas atribuyen el hecho a un g¡ro significativo de los consumidores hacia los vehículos eléctricos (VE) chinos más asequibles, impulsados por la cautela económica.

Musk anuncia convenio estratégico con gigante tecnológico

Las entregas de Model 3 y Model Y cayeron un 8,4 % interanual, a 67.886 unidades, un 5,2% menos que en junio. El descenso se produjo a pesar del aumento del 35 % registrado en el mercado general de VE de la China continental en lo que va de año. La bajada de Tesla refleja la intensa presión competitiva ejercida por marcas locales de bajo presupuesto, cuyos vehículos (con precios iniciales que pueden ser casi la mitad del Model 3) están batiendo récords de ventas.

En consecuencia, la cuota de mercado de Tesla en la China continental se desplomó al 3,8 % en junio, frente al 6,9 % del año pasado y el 16 % que ostentó en 2020, año de apertura de la planta en Shanghái.  

Ante este desafío, la marca prepara modelos renovados para recuperar terreno en el mayor mercado de vehículos eléctricos del mundo. Sin embargo, aún no ha anunciado los precios de estos nuevos modelos, que ingresarían a un segmento prémium cada vez más saturado, enfrentando la competencia inmediata de nuevos SUV nacionales.
