Tiroteo en una base militar de Estados Unidos

Se reportan víctimas en un incidente con un tirador activo en la base militar de Fort Stewart, ubicada en Georgia. Hoy miércoles, ocurrió un tiroteo en la base militar estadounidense de Fort Stewart, en Georgia. Según medios locales, al menos cinco personas fueron hospitalizadas y la instalación permanece cerrada por la presencia de un tirador activo.

Fort Stewart, una instalación del Ejército de EE.UU., se dedica al entrenamiento y despliegue de unidades tanto activas como de reserva, y es la sede de la 3.ª División de Infantería. Más de 10.000 personas, incluyendo soldados, familiares y personal civil, viven en la base.

La base militar está situada a aproximadamente 60 kilómetros al suroeste de Savannah. Según el FBI, las autoridades federales de la ciudad han ofrecido su apoyo a los investigadores del Ejército. Las escuelas de la zona han sido cerradas como medida de precaución.

El gobernador de Georgia, Brian Kemp, comentó en X que está “en contacto cercano con las fuerzas del orden” y manifestó su profunda tristeza por “la tragedia de hoy en Fort Stewart.”

Fort Stewart informó posteriormente en un comunicado que el incidente del tirador ocurrió en el área del Equipo de Combate de la 2.ª Brigada Blindada. El autor del tiroteo ha sido detenido y las autoridades aseguran que ahora ya “no hay ninguna amenaza activa para la comunidad”.
