El multimillonario estadounidense Warren Buffett ha anunciado que ha revisado su testamento y ha decidido que, tras su muerte, casi toda su fortuna se destinará a una nueva fundación benéfica que será gestionada por sus tres hijos, según manifestó.
De acuerdo con el inversor, su hija Susie Buffett, de 71 años, y sus dos hijos Howie Buffett, de 69 años, y Peter Buffett, de 66 años, tendrán que decidir por unanimidad a qué fines filantrópicos se destinarán los más de 120.000 millones de dólares.
“El dinero debería utilizarse para ayudar a la gente que no ha tenido tanta suerte como nosotros. Hay 8.000 millones de personas en el mundo, y mis hijos y yo hemos estado en el más afortunado centésimo del 1% o algo así. Hay muchas formas de ayudar a la gente”, afirmó, añadiendo que “confía al 100% en cómo sus hijos llevarán a cabo las cosas”.
Está decisión de Buffett significa que sus donaciones a la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates, así como a otras cuatro organizaciones benéficas, a las que el magnate ha donado miles de millones de dólares desde el 2006, cesarán tras su muerte. “La Fundación Gates no recibirá dinero después de mi muerte”, declaró.
