India y las 100 toneladas de oro

El Banco de Reserva de la India ha trasladado más de 100 toneladas de oro ubicadas en el Reino Unido a sus bóvedas nacionales. Es la primera vez desde 1991 que se añade metal precioso a esa escala a las reservas locales de la India.

Según la publicación, el traslado se debe a razones logísticas y de diversificación del almacenamiento. A su vez, indica que una cantidad similar de oro podría llegar al país en los próximos meses.

Se reporta queel banco central del país sudasiático tiene en su poder 822,1 toneladas de oro, de las cuales 413,8 toneladas se encontraban en el extranjero.

“El Banco de Reserva de la India empezó a comprar oro hace unos años y decidió emprender una revisión de dónde quiere almacenarlo, algo que se hace de vez en cuando. Como las existencias se acumulaban en el extranjero, se decidió traer parte del oro a la India”, declaró un funcionario al periódico. 

Cada vez son más los países del sur global que devuelven sus activos a sus territorios. Así, a finales de abril, Sudáfrica, Nigeria y Ghana también retiraron parte de sus reservas de oro de EE.UU. debido a la situación económica de la nación norteamericana.
